Clarity

In my quest to find the answer to the universal question
I had bred in myself impatience,
anxiety; had carried a banner of vague
and constant disappointment that the
acts of my life lacked the slippery
mixture of gravitas and celebrity
I was certain they should possess;
had tallied mistakes and failures,
successes and serendipities,
wondering if I’d live long enough
to balance this vicious ledger.
